Healing The Tropics

the sunlight glares on a balmy june afternoon

the pearls in the middle of the ocean

slowly sinking amidst the fleeting pleas

a cataclysm like no other

oh how long will it take for us to understand?

mother nature held us in her loving arms

yet in a time of all wrongs

we took and took from our home

how naive to think our presence cannot advance to ruins

soon our cruelty will rage on,

will we listen or will we neglect

the cries and prayers;

an apology might come

a little too late,

yet the lush vegetations and the azure blues

can breathe and sing freely

for our reversal is essential

we owe it to her

the light that shines beyond horizons

a generation that holds hands

that hears the sounds of our planet,

let us patch the scars and wounds

and cherish our sweet tropical home.
